Intl Seminar on Environment, Culture, Religion starts in Tehran

Representatives of nine religions from 15 countries are attending the event.

(Iran's Environment News Agency) - The Tehran international seminar is being held in cooperation with Iran's Department of Environment (DOE), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The participants are representatives from Hindus, Zoroastrians, Buddhists, Christians, Jainists, Muslims, and other religions.

The two-day seminar is aimed at holding talks on how much religion and culture can help preserve the environment and promote sustainable development.

The framework of the seminar is based on 'transformation of our world: 2030 agenda for sustainable development' which has been confirmed as an action plan for people, our planet and prosperity in the recent meeting of the United Nations in New York (September 15th).
