Iran signed Paris Climate Change Deal to reduce greenhouse effects and that the signature shows Iran’s commitment to protect the environment

(Iran's Environment News Agency) - Head of Department of Environment Masoumeh Ebtekar said that Iran signed Paris Climate Change Deal to reduce greenhouse effects and that the signature shows Iran’s commitment to protect the environment.

She made the remarks in the 2nd International Seminar on Environment, Culture, and Religion.

Masoumeh Ebtekar said that Iran has taken effective steps to protect the environment at national level and programs have been designed to keep up with the international standards.
Referring to signing Paris climate deal by Iranian Foreign Minister at UN on April 22, she hoped that the international community would adopt effectice measures to lower the greenhouse effects.

She said that destruction of green areas, drop in water resources, soil pollution have posed threat to the future of the Earth.
Ebtekar said that religious teachings call for protection of environment by their followers.

She appreciated cooperation of UNESCO and UNEP to hold this event.
